Two Ways to Use Ribbon (After the Holidays Are Over)

Have you ever seen a gift wrapped in colorful paper? Of course you have: you have been through a few Christmas seasons or attended a few birthday parties in your life, I’m sure.

But think about this: have you ever seen a gift, wrapped in colorful paper—even the most beautiful paper—without a ribbon or a bow?  It feels empty, doesn’t it? It feels like something is missing.

Yes, that gift is missing the exquisite—and simple—addition of fine ribbon.  Sure, you could use twine or any type of string, but there is something almost mystical about satin ribbon; something you cannot deny.

With that in mind, perhaps it is time to think about other things you could do with FinerRibbon throughout the rest of the year.

RIBBONS AS ACCESSORIES

Obviously, wearing ribbons in your hair dates back to, perhaps, as far back as ribbons have been around. But you could use ribbon as a personal or fashion accessory in many different ways.

Consider, for example, instead of just tying a ribbon in your hair, actually making a hair clip from ribbon. You may need a bobby pin or clothespin or another type of fashioning mechanism, sure, but when it comes to making your own accessories, the only rules to do what works best for you!

You might also use ribbon to make a lapel pin or a name badge.  You could use ribbon as a subtle accent to just about anything or as a more elaborate fringe if that is what you prefer.

RIBBONS AS DECORATION

Similarly to your personal fashion sense, you could also use satin ribbon to decorate your home.  In a child’s room, for example, consider using colorful—and complementary—ribbons to cover a lamp shade for something far more fun and whimsical.  Of course, you could do this with any fabric you have just lying around, but ribbon is already conveniently patterned, colored, and cut.

You could also make a simple chandelier or mobile with ribbon. It all depends on the age of the child, of course, but as you can see, there are so many ideas if you just open your mind.

Can you think of other creative ways to decorate your home with ribbon?
